About the Competition

Description of the Competition

High school mathematics competitions are sponsored by the Math Department at Anne Arundel Community College. Students have the opportunity to work on math problems individually and with a team from their high school. During the individual competition, the student works on six problems which encourages him/her to use a wide variety of math skills and knowledge. During the team competition, teams comprised of up to five students, all from the same high school, work on six problems which challenge them to use their extensive math knowledge.

Students who earn a perfect score on the individual competition receive certificates. The top scoring team receives a certificate and traveling plaque and second and third place receive certificates. At the end of the year, the top three schools receive trophies.
