CATALOG DESCRIPTION: |
Primarily for students in the elementary education and early childhood education programs. Topics include two- and three-dimensional shapes, measurement, dimensional analysis, congruence and similarity, and coordinate and transformational geometry. Special emphasis is given throughout the course to problem solving techniques. Computers and/or calculators are used to solve mathematical problems.
Prerequisite: Achieving an appropriate score on the mathematics part of the ACT or SAT, or completion of MAT 012 with a grade of at least C or scoring at an appropriate level on the Mathematics Placement Test. Note: Although MAT 221 and MAT 222 can be taken in either order, the department recommends the sequential order. |
