Instructions for Installing Maple Software

In order to do the computer algebra system part of the course, you first must do the following:

(1)  Purchase and install the Maple software on the computer you use.  (Maple 6 or a later version is preferable, MapleV Release 5.0 and 5.1 are okay.)  The student version is quite adequate and costs about $130.  Most software retailers will not accept returns on software, so ascertain that the course is running before opening the Maple wrapper and installing the Maple software.  Maple 6 is installed on the computers in the computer lab in Math Building at Anne Arundel Community College. If you wish to get acquainted with the software before installing it on your computer, feel free to drop by the Math Department to use Maple in the Math Computer Lab.

(2)  Associate ".mws" files with Maple on your operating system.

Should you have difficulty with either of these tasks, please contact your instructor(s).  Fortunately these two tasks will have to be done only once for the entire course.  You can then open the Maple worksheets that we provide with a few clicks.
